Okay, I had vague aspirations, but now I can officially cross Sports Photographer as a prospective career off my list! A shame really as I think I'd enjoy it given the opportunity to really let my inhibitions go.
Anyway, so other than my back-up plan of Canine Frisbee (aka throwing the frisbee for the dog to watch land then unenthusiastically retrieve for me ... Lotus doesn't take to the pressure very well) ... I made zero concrete plans, so when I was at the beach on the final warm day of the Summer (well you know, early Autumn) and saw some aspiring surfers I thought this has to be it!
So this guy was obviously still in the learning phase. I've seen enough surfing on telly to see his stance was all wrong, and seriously if there is one sport out there that I like it's surfing, I genuinely enjoy watching it (especially when the cameras go right in with the surfer, and those giant wave riders, so cool!) I can really appreciate where they are coming from too, the serenity yet power of the ocean, and in the last hour of light for the Summer (day) well it's something else :-)
and yes, he popped right off his board in the next frame :-)
Cheers
I love that you captured him in the act of standing up. You totally should have broken the project rules and included a fourth photo of him stacking it to finish the set off... lol. :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome sequence!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! The light is lovely and the story is good. I'd like to see the fourth shot as well...
